Fruit and insect-eating birds

Borgstein Birds & Zoofood Trading has specialised in fruit and insect-eating birds right from the start, including leaf birds, flycatchers, thrushes, jays, laughing thrushes, bulbuls, tanagers, toucans, honeyeaters, starlings and fruit pigeons.

These birds are mainly destined for zoos, large private collections and specialist bird lovers all over the world. They often require a special diet and accommodation. The feeds and supplements now available produce good results every year. The birds’ basic diet must consist of a low-iron universal feed with less than 65 ppm of iron, and have a protein content of over 20%.

Customers must be given the right advice on accommodation, aviary design and feed. A well-planted aviary and a population of fruit and insect-eating birds is one of the most magnificent sights in the world of bird-keeping.

Tropical birds, doves, quails and partridges

We import many kinds of tropical bird breeds including amandinas, estrildids, whinchats, finches, cardinals, seed-crackers and tropical doves. We also have quails and partridges. These birds are mainly supplied to shops and private individuals, and some are exported.

It is important for customers to be given sound advice.
